FINALLY: House Democrats say there’s “more than sufficient evidence” to open a criminal investigation into Donald Trump’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein, and they want a special counsel to run it.
Judiciary Committee Democrats, led by Rep. Jamie Raskin, dropped their report eight days before the midterms. It says five women have directly accused Trump of assault in Epstein’s company or presence. Three more describe Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell appearing to offer women to him.It also names Paolo Zampolli, a longtime Trump friend and his former special envoy, as a possible Epstein co-conspirator.Why a special counsel? Because the man in charge of the Justice Department is Todd Blanche, who used to be Trump’s personal lawyer.
Democrats say the DOJ and FBI have worked to protect Trump instead of chasing Epstein’s accomplices.Epstein’s Old Pal Donald is mentioned thousands of times in the files. Exactly one person was ever convicted, and she got moved to a minimum-security prison while Trump was president. The White House blamed “crazed Democrats” and insisted Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago “because he was a creep.”
This is the same man who called Epstein a “terrific guy” in 2002 and joked that the women Epstein liked were “on the younger side.” He also reportedly said they had “certain things in common,” and wished him that “every day be another wonderful secret” in a birthday card.
Democrats admit Blanche will never appoint a special counsel, and Congress can’t do it on its own. But if they win the House, they get subpoena power in January, no Republican permission needed. The report reads like their to-do list.Trump has fought for years to keep these files buried. Now they may finally be coming to light.
